Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has denied allegations that former governor, George Akume is his godfather and takes the major decisions in the state.
The governor who said this during a one hour phone-in programme on Radio Benue, Makurdi said he was not Akume’s godson as claimed by many but only has a cordial relationship with the former governor which he has maintained even in the days when they were in different parties.
According to him, he served under Akume for six years, adding that, even when he was in PDP, he still maintained a cordial relationship with George Akume.
The Governor said, he has no god father as people portray him as the political son of Akume. He said God is his only God father and was the one who gave him the mandate.
He explained further that, he only gives respect to the elders such as Barnabas Gemade, George Akume and many more.
“When I want something, I go to God to get it. I told you that 2015 was my governorship slot and here I am. The test of a true prophet is that what he has said come to pass”. The Governor said.
