News reports, yesterday Thursday October 8, 2015; gave an indication that Governor Samuel Ortom has, in what may be described as a break from the past, inaugurated Steering & Technical Committees that would jointly and collectively facilitate the process of producing a development blue print for his administration. This action on the part of Governor Ortom is not only timely but equally commendable too.

Those who had come of age by the late 70s and early 80s would readily recall that, the period immediately after the civil war and right through to the second republic, was characterised by the production and faithful implementation of development plans. Not unsurprisingly, that period of our post-independence history represents the zenith of our development as a nation and, in my view, remains one which may be described as the golden era of development in our country Nigeria.
