BNHA Deputy Speaker In Contract Scam

. As Group petitions Governor over Car supply

A non-govermental organisation,  Benue Coalition Against Corruption (BECAC) has petitioned the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom accusing the Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. James Okefe of  dubious and criminal involvement in the supply of vehicles to the state assembly.

The group in a letter signed by its Chairman,  Audu Agbo and made available to our reporter, claimed that Hon. Okefe had hoodwinked the state governor into awarding contracts to his phony while also impersonating for the same purpose.

According to them the Deputy Speaker had introduced falsely his aide one Mr. Agada Ochoche as as Alhaji Abdulkarim who claimed to be an educated car dealer to the state governor for the purpose of procurement of vehicles for the state assembly members.

As such the group is claiming that the Deputy Speaker dubiously circumvented the procurement process to award the contract which amounted to millions to himself.

” Sir, you will recall that the Deputy Speaker, James Okefe was mandated by the House of Assembly to liaise with you for the purpose of providing official cars for it’s leadership. BECAC is aware that you insisted on due diligence to be followed and even went as far as asking to meet the contractor to make sure he was reputable and competent. This is where James Okefe’s dubious nature reared it’s very ugly head. BECAC is aware that James Okefe introduced his Special Assistant – Agada Ochoche Agaba as  ” Alhaji Abdulkarim the contractor” to you.  To rejig your memory Sir, we have included the pictures of  “Alh.Abdulkarim” who we know as Agada Ochoche Agaba” . It read in part.

In the letter dated 28th September, 2015,  the group further  appealed to the governor to kindly look into this dubious act by the Deputy Speaker, as according to them “no where in the world do government officials execute government contracts” .

While pledging their support for the Ortom led administration,  they  however complained that they had written to the Speaker of the  Benue House of Assembly over the matter but  he had chosen to ignore their letter in an act meant to protect his Deputy.

H.E Dr.Samuel Ortom
Executive Governor
Benue State of Nigeria

Dear Sir,

JAMES OKEFE THE DUBIOUS DEPUTY SPEAKER; A CALL TO PROBE HIS CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES

The Benue Coalition Against Corruption (BECAC) wishes to bring to your attention the dubious and criminal activity in which you were the victim of James Okefe, Deputy Speaker -Benue State House of Assembly.

Sir, you will recall that the Deputy Speaker, James Okefe was mandated by the House of Assembly to liaise with you for the purpose of providing official cars for it’s leadership. To rejig your memory Sir, we have included the pictures of  “Alh.Abdulkarim” who we know as Agada Ochoche Agaba.

BECAC is also aware that there was jubilation and merry making by James Okefe and his cohort at the Jonah Jang Lodge, Government House Makurdi on the night you gave approval for the cars to be bought. James Okefe is said to have boasted that he used his Special Assistant to fool you to approve a multi million-naira contract for him.

Sir, we are appealing to you to kindly look into this dubious act by the Deputy Speaker. No where in the world do government officials execute government contracts  .We have written to the Speaker, Benue House of Assembly but unfortunately he has chosen to ignore our letter in an act meant to protect his Deputy.

The coming weeks will be very telling as we prepare to ensure that James Okefe is brought to book for his dubious activities since becoming Deputy Speaker.

Sir, BECAC is counting on you to use your good office to redeem the image of the Benue State House of Assembly which today remains the only House of Assembly in the country to investigate a Facebook posting.

Sir, BECAC remains loyal and supportive of your grand plan to transform our state through serious hard work.

Yours faithfully,

Audu Agbo
Chairman BECAC
