Secretary to the Benue State Government Barr. Targema Takema has stated that no amount of blackmail, negotiation or diversionary tactics can derail the focus of the present administration to use the just constituted probe panels to effectively assertion how much the previous government stole from the public treasury.
The SSG who was speaking today at the burial ceremony of mother of the chairman, All Progressives Congress, Gboko Local Government Hon. Tarnongu Mnyam Bam further held that the current meetings held by former governor Gabriel Suswam with key leaders in the state and his informing personal friends and associates at a meeting in Abuja of possible suspension of his probe is a waste of time and resources as no body in the state will wave aside the numerous fraud that characterized the activities of the previous government.
He accused Suswam of selling Benue shares in Julius Berger for the cost of 8billion naira and diverting the money to private accounts through then commissioner of finance Omadachi Oklobia also re-echoed the resolve of the present administration to ensure that every kobo looted from the state is returned adding that by so doing, the government of Samuel Ortom will be showing the people the path of probity, transparency and accountability and should the government or any player within it be found wanting now or at the end their service, the relevant agencies of government should not hesitate to met out justice.
The SSG who regretted the situation of civil servants in the state who were subjected to untold hardships thanked workers for their patience assuring that government has worked out a permanent solution to their plight by blocking leakages in their salaries which unnecessarily increased the state’s wage bill as salaries of civil servants will no longer go to private accounts.
He also assured of the state government’s readiness to clear all outstanding salaries of workers in the state when it accesses the bailout fund available for the state
