Ortom’s First Day in office

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on his first day in office today,  announced the first appointments with Targema Takema as the Secretary to the State

Government, Iwanta Adaikwu as Head of Service, Terwase Orbunde as Chief of Staff and Tahav Agerzua, as Media Adviser.

The Governor who made the announcement at the caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the old Banquet Hall of Benue Peoples House disclosed that the inauguration of the officials will be done at same venue tomorrow, 2nd June, 2015.
Meanwhile the governor, has also directed the the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice to take steps to comply with the court injunction which had restrained the Governor and seven others from appointing first class chiefs in Benue State.
In a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, Mr Eugene Ivase, the Governor directed that the appropriate aim of the Benue State government should be to comply with the subsisting court injunction in respect of the matter.
The letter directed that compliance with6 the injunction on 4th May, 2015 should be treated as a priority.
In another development, Governor Ortom directed that a five member committee be set up to review the deposition of the Ter Nagi, Chief Daniel Abomtse.
Mr Ivase disclosed in another letter that the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice will chair the committee while Mr Joseph Damkor, a director in the Ministry of Information would serve as Secretary.
Other committee members are the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Targema Takema, and Barrister Mike Gusa.
The terms of reference of the committee, which has three days to submit it’s report, include to review the deposition process, ascertain it’s appropriateness or otherwise and make recommendations to the Governor.
