Call Off Strike, Ortom Begs BSU Lecturers

The Benue Governor-elect, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom has appealed to striking  lecturers of the Benue State University Makurdi to sheet their swords and return to the classroom.

Dr Ortom who will be the visitor to the university made this plea on Friday at his Makurdi residence when he met with principal officers

With Principal Staff of Benue State University

of the institution during their congratulatory visit, saying “the students are either our children, brothers and sisters”.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Charity Angya, was accompanied by the DVC Academics, Professor Eriba, Registrar, Dr Timothy Utile, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Simeon Adebisi, Prof Ojowu among others.

The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) Benue State University Chapter under which lecturers belong had embarked on an indefinite strike early March this year following non-payment of salaries by the state government.
