The Benue State House of Assembly has summoned the commissioner of Finance, Mr. Omadachi Oklobia, Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Solomon Wombo and the Chairman Benue Internal Revenue Service(BIRS ), Mr. Gabriel Asen, to appear before it to explain the reasons that have led to the delay in the payment of salaries and pension to retirees.
The Assembly took this decision today when it deliberated on a motion moved by 23 of its members concerning the states financial situation and the non payment of workers salaries nasty well as retiree benefits.
In the motion titled motion “Calling on the Benue State government to furnished the House with the financial status of the state”, it was resolved that the state commissioner for Finance should appear and submit to it details of revenue received from the Federation Account and expenditure from January, 2014 to date.
The house also agreed that the Chairman of BIRS should also appear and submit details of internal revenue received from the same period.
the Special Adviser on LG is also required to appear and submit details of cash flow/ revenue from the federation account and disbursements to LGs covering the same period.
All the documents are to be submitted next Tuesday
