The governorship campaigns of Rt. Hon. Terhemen Tarzoor yesterday received a huge boost as it realised over 130 Million Naira from pledges and donations at a fund raising dinner .
Leading the pack of donors was Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro who began the fund raising with an N80 million donation. According to him, N30 million was on his behalf and friends of the ministry while, N50 million was on behalf of friends outside of the ministry of internal affairs.
Also amongst the top flight donors were Dr Timothy Ijir, Dr Akaahan Dominic, and an anonymous donor who donated N10 million each, while the Benue House of Assembly members donated N5 million.
The Director General of National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Dr. Paul Orhii, Senate President’s Daughter Hon. Blessing Ene, PDP House of Representative members from the state, and members of the State Executive committee all donated N2 million and a couple of other donors donated various amounts to the cause.
Donations also came from the first female pilot from Benue Rosemary Sugh – N10,000.00, all aspirants who contested for the party’s gubernatorial ticket also donated N500,000. 00, while the Tarzoor’s secondary school classmates set of 1991 led donated N400,000 . There was also an anonymous donation of 10,000 Euros and 2 brand new Toyota Prado SUV cars.
PDP support groups led by #BOOTH2BOOTH which donated 1 Million Naira also donated various sums.
The gubernatorial candidate received words of advice and encouragement from elder statesmen with much delight. Chairman of the occasion, senate president David Alechenu Mark urged Benue people to come together with a sense of community and own the Tarzoor/Ngbede campaign project; to move Benue forward.
The Aspirant and his running mate expressed their overwhelming joy and humility at the amount of support showered on them by the party and it’s supporters.
The governorship aspirant while expressing his gratitude, told the attendees that his government would focus on agriculture, citing the new railway system as a huge boost to ensuring massive export of agricultural produce in the coming years.
