Sequel to the presidential visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to Makurdi today, the railway authorities have given the Makurdi Railway tracks a new look.
The tracks which were hitherto abandoned due to non-usage, have been cleared of all rubble especially at the railway bye pass, and also been given a face lift.
President Jonathan is expected to arrive Benue state today to Flagoff his reelection campaign.
He is during the visit also billed to commission five new 68-seater air-conditioned passenger coaches delivered to the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) .
According to the Managing Director, NRC, Adeseyi Sijuwade the newly acquired rolling stock at the Ebute Metta worksyard of the corporation that the new coaches would be deployed to the Eastern Line to service Markurdi to Gombe. He also promised the corporation’s commitment to providing a rail service in which all Nigerians would be proud.
Meanwhile all the major roads in the town have also been given a face lift as road dividers and pavements have been repainted while potholes on major roads have been patched to give the state capital a better look.
