Barr. Paul Harris Ogbole

Frontline governorship aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Paul Harris Ogbole has affirmed that his desire to become the next governor of the state is not a “Do or Die affair”, but a longing drawn from the desire to serve.
According to Ogbole, who spoke exclusively to atiterkula, leadership should be borne out of the conviction to offer service to the people and not a means wealth acquisition. He further decried the situation where politics and contesting elections has become professions to many people, blaming the violence accompanying elections and politics on the desperation of such elements.
The former Commissioner of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), however hinted that if he is finally elected as governor he would make sure all sectors of the economy are given due attention with emphasis on agriculture, education and Revenue generation focal points of his administration, noting that these were areas that had pseudo functions of wealth and job creation, while acknowledging the over dependence of the state on the federation account.
The gubernatorial hopeful who recognized the present administration’s efforts at infrastructural development and promised to continue from where it will stop, further promised education subsidy schemes and also partnership with private educational institutions in order to provide cheap and quality education for the state.
Speaking on the issue of zoning, Barr. Ogbole said the concept which is an unwritten agreement is only a means to ensure fairness and equality amongst brothers. He explained further that the state was divided into three senatorial zones with two already tasting the governorship severally thus to ensure fairness, it would only be right to concede to the only zone which has not tasted the position, to ensure fairness and peaceful co-habitation.
Nevertheless, Ogbole, added that the longing for the governorship to be zoned to the Idoma speaking Zone C senatorial district was not just based on the theory of fairness but also should be seen from the angle of availability of competent hand from the zone who have proved their mettle and contributed in one way or the other to uplift the society.
