Sequel to a thunder strike in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, a pregnant woman and a barber have both been confirmed dead, after they were struck dead by thunder bolt, followed by a down-pour.
According to reports, the pregnant woman (name withheld) was cooking in her kitchen while the barber (name also withheld) was in his shop when thunder struck, at about 7pm, killing both of them, respectively.
Just after the incident, the street, Average Hotel Street, situated close to the St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Gboko was enveloped in tension.
A witness, Mr Caleb Edache who narrated the incident, said that the barber had just finished attending to a customer and was packing some of his belongings into the shop when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The chairman of Gboko LGA, Mr Nahan Zenda, who spoke to newsmen yesterday via a cell phone conversation, confirmed the incident and said that men of the police were quickly deployed to the area to maintain peace and douse the tension.
