The crises rocking the Benue State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, over leadership tussle have continued unabated with elders of the party in the state calling on the national secretariat to do something before things go out of hand.

This was contained in a petition signed by Chief Isaac Shaahu and Chief Ukor Ayem, a copy of which was made available to atiterkula.

Sen. George Akume

The elders, including Chief Isaac Shaahu, Hon. Ninga Biam, Amb. M. Gbasha, Jerry Yande, Terhemba Kajo, in a call to the national secretariat of APC at the weekend, accused the Senate Minority Leader, Senator George Akume of being responsible for the “shoddy manner in which congresses of the party held in the state”.

“As it is now, the congresses have been bedeviled with malpractices, abuse of processes and upright debasement of supposed stakeholders of the party,” they said.

“We do not agree with attempts by non registered members of the party to plant their surrogates as party officials. We are aware that to seek elective positions does not mean one must plant party EXCO before contesting,” they added.

In a related development, the elders of the party in Konshisha Local Government Area of the state have petitioned against their House of Representatives member, Iorwase Hembe, to the national secretariat of the party, for allegedly using money to create division in party, to enable him win his third term ambition in 2015.

Hon. Herman Iorwase Hembe

They further alleged that even as Mr. Hembe has not defected to APC but still in PDP, he had gone to is country home and organised pre-congress meetings of APC at the local government and wards levels, without reference to the member of the harmonization committee, representing the local government area.
