At about 3:30 pm, the aptitude test had not been carried out while some of the applicants looking frustrated after the officials had separated the University graduate from the lesser qualification

Some of the applicants who spoke to our correspondent wondered why the Immigration service cannot organize its recruitment without people dying every time.

An applicant, Miss. Funmilayo Ajekigbe, said she got to the venue as early as 4.30 am but there was nobody to attend to them until 10.30 am. She said saying “more than 100,000 people presented themselves here today as you can see that every space in the 60, 000 capacity stadium is filled up.

When contacted the FCT Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], DSP Alteni Daniels, refused to comment on the development.  She said “It is not police assignment, it is Immigration’s own, and they are in best position to comment on this, so talk to them because I have not been briefed by anybody.”

All efforts to get Immigration’s Public Relations Officer, CPP Chwukwuemeka Obua, proved abortive as he refused to answer his phone which rang repeatedly.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the service in Benue, Mr Tersoo Ukeyima, said  that the NIS was overwhelmed by the number of applicants while in Gombe, 5,000 candidates from Gombe and Borno took part in the exercise at Abubakar Umar Memorial Stadium, Gombe.

atiterkula gathered that applicants from Borno were deployed to Gombe as a result of the security challenge in that state.

No fewer than 15,000 people however participated in the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, recruitment exercise in Kano. Sokoto Command, yesterday recorded no fewer than 10,000 candidates with  over 26,000 candidates in Kaduna State.
Mean while participants of the exercise have expressed their disbelief in the conduct of the exercise alleging that it is just a phony to justify the fees charged for procurement of scratch cards, even as the alleged it a scheme to enrich a certain cabal.

Speaking to atiterkula at the National Stadium venue Abuja, an applicant, Mr. Inuwa Saleh lamented the inswensitivity shown by the ministry by jampacking them in the stadium for hours without hope of a proper test.

“I even regret coming to this place. I just wasted my transport because in the end they have already prepared the list of those to employ. This one is just to justify our money they collected and shared with the minister”

Also reacting Christiana Ikwue did not hide her distrust for the whole process stating that it would have been more transparent if we were called in batches to write and conduct test not this free for all jamboree, now you see how it has caused lives?”
