National Chairman, Miyetti Allah Kautal-Hore, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi, has attributed the farmers/herdsmen clash in Benue State to the evil machinations of some alleged desperate politicians in the area.

Abdullahi told newsmen in Jos on Thursday that some aggrieved politicians, whom he did not identify, capitalised on the ignorance of the farmers and the herdsmen to promote the crisis.

He said: “The clash has been caused by desperate politicians in the state; the politicians adopt a “divide and rule tactics” so as to perpetuate themselves in office.

“The farmers and herdsmen have been living together for several years within the same place as brothers and sisters without any misunderstanding.

“The same people today are at each other’s throat like they have never seen each other before.”

He said that the politicians sponsored some disgruntled people to carry out the killings under the pretext that it was caused by the herdsmen.

“At present, the herdsmen have been branded as people who enjoy killing their brothers and sisters. All the people making this allegation against the cattle rearers cannot substantiate them.Criminals connive and claim that herdsmen have attacked them, so as to get the chance to retaliate and steal their hard earned cows.”

Abdullahi called on security agents to fish out the people behind the recent misunderstandings in the North Central zone.

“We are appealing to all the security agencies to rise up and curtail the spread of violence so as to prevent the killing of innocent people.” the chairman said. NAN
