Asari Enough of these Empty Threats

asariThe build up to every election year is always action packed for me it is always my most exciting period in democracy. My excitement may be borne out of my youthfulness naïve of the underlying dangers inherent in these exciting events.
In as much as I have been unconsciously celebrating actions and events I have also began to be appalled by certain players who have hitherto been comics in the political theatricals that had offered me the opportunity to vent out my stress.
I had earlier on written a piece on this particular character (see ), Alhaji Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, the acclaimed Niger Delta Emancipation leader, the man who denied the citizenship of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but desires to have a stake in the Republic. The Niger Delta freedom fighter who has set up training camps in Ghana, Cyprus and nearly all European Union Countries (as he stated in an interview with Verbatim Magazine May 6, 2013). The freedom fighter who never believed in Goodluck Jonathan’s Competence but all of a sudden has remembered the President’s Ijaw roots.
The reason for my present commentary is his insistent unprovoked verbal attack and inciting comments aimed at provoking chaos beyond 2015 per chance president Goodluck Jonathan does not win the election. Unfortunately even as the state has taken wise steps at curbing all inciting comments (remember El-Rufai’s recent quizzing), this extreme talker is yet to be cautioned.
His recent comment and I quote:
“If it is war the North wants, we are ready for them because Jonathan must complete the mandatory constitutionally allowable two terms of eight years. At home, we have regrouped and we have put our people at alert. In less than one hour, the way we would strike, the world will be shocked. If anybody does anything against Jonathan, we will retaliate. What we will do will shock the whole world. We will cripple the economy of the country not only in the creeks, but also on the nation’s territorial waters, no vessel will be allowed to enter Nigeria’s territorial waters. Let them not try anything. If they abuse Jonathan, there is no problem, he is their President but anything that will affect the interest of the Ijaw people and the interest of the entire people of the Niger Delta will be resisted at any cost.Jonathan cannot be defeated, they don’t have the right, every part of the country must have equal stake in the presidency of the country. Let them go and sleep in their houses. If they don’t, they are looking for trouble and we are going to give it to them. It will make better sense if APC picks its presidential candidate from the South- South. With that, there will be no battle for us to fight and it will make it easier for us. Whichever way it goes, it will enable us to continue our right of uninterrupted rule of eight years, which is the minimum constitutional requirement”.
This was pulled off social media. I ask: What makes the presidency a sole reserve of the Ijaws? Why will it be the north’s fault if by polling GEJ looses? Finally I am tired of Asari’s empty threats, this has to stop. He needs to be reminded that Nigerians have demystified him and discovered his financial quest camouflaged in freedom fighting. We also call on the able Nigerian security to call to order this non- Nigerian.
I may have loved his gusto and love for his people and minorities ( whom I am part of, however it has become a child’s play and should be called to order.
