Project completion: Suswam takes on Contractors

Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has ordered contractors handling several road construction projects covering parts of Zone C and B senatorial Districts of the state to redouble their efforts towards early completion.

Suswam handed down the order during an inspection tour of the roads which include Otukpo/Utonkon/Igumale, which cover a stretch of 51.8 km, Oju/Obussa/Idele road and Taraku/Aondona/Naka.

The contracts for the construction of the roads had been awarded to Rock Bridge Nig. Ltd, CGGC Global projects Nig. Ltd and PW Nig. Ltd respectively.

While Otukpo/Utonkon/Igumale and Oju/Obussa roads are located in Zone C senatorial district, Taraku/Aondona/Naka road is cited in Zone B senatorial district of the state.

Speaking during the inspection of Oju/Obussa road, awarded to Rock Bridge Company at the cost of N3.9billion, Suswam ordered the tractor to complete the project before the rains set in while he directed the contractor handling Otukpo/Utonkon road project to rework part of the road, especially the stretch covering Utonkon and Igumale.

The governor said his administration was not indebted to any contractor handling any road project in the state and charged them to redouble their efforts and complete the projects for early commissioning.

He said the inspection was to enable government verify the extent of work done and to know in what specific areas of intervention to achieve early completion of the jobs.

Reacting to the order, one of the contractors, Rock Bridge, represented by the project Engineer, Iyad Chanreum, said the contract had reached 95 percent completion and assured that it would be completed within schedule.

The Oju/Obusa/Idele/Utonkon road, covers a stretch of 51.8km, Otukpo/Utonkon, 56 km while that of Taraku/Aondona/Naka cover 61 km.

The governor who said the Oju/Obussa road was important to his administration owing to its strategic nature to the people of the area also inspected some bridges on Oju/ Obussa road which include Ucho,Oyongo and Ororu bridges.

At the Taraku road project, project manager of the company, Awlad Hossain said the project had attained 60 percent completion and would be delivered on time
