The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Benue state has taken calculated moves to strengthen the party and by implication prevent the opposition from winning any elective office in the state in 2015.

The state chairman of the party, Dr Agbo Emmanuel who disclosed this during an interface with newsmen in Makurdi, yesterday said the move became necessary in order to prevent the opposition which he said was almost nonexistent but won some elective seats in 2011.

Agbo who lamented the winning of those seats said that at the course of these meetings, whatever is seen to be a threat to the strength of the party at the various wards would be graduated in sequence to the centre and appropriately addressed.

“The meetings will now collate whatever issues that have arisen consequent upon the meeting that have been held at the wards. In that same process, the zones will collate whatever is supposed to be the fallout of these meetings from the local governments and transmit same to the state secretariat where an expanded meeting of the elders, stakeholders and leaders will be convoked.

“At that meeting, issues from the local government or from the zones and those affected will equally be invited into those meetings to assist the leadership in the state to nip in the bud any arising problem far ahead of 2015,” Agbo further explained.

The state PDP boss who also disclosed that the first meeting starts today also said that  elected and appointed public officers, including stakeholders of the party in the state have been adequately briefed even as he expressed happiness that the party remains an indivisible entity in the state.
