The Benue state House of Assembly last week handed Governor Suswam a seven days ultimatum to sack the embattled Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Conrad Werga.
Wergba was earlier given seven days to honourably resign his position but has since failed.
At a plenary, following a point of order raised by Hon. Iana Jato (PDP) Katsina-Ala East to the effect that the directive given the Commissioner for Information by the House fifteen days ago has since elapsed with him still in office.
Members variously expressed anger and worry over the commissioner’s blatant refusal to respect himself and ‘honourably resign’ as directed.
Speaker, Hon. David Iorhemba gave the directives after a heated debate following a motion by Hon. Baba Ude(PDP) Otukpo/ Akpa constituency and seconded by Dr Joseph Adoga Ona(ACN) Oju 1 constituency that Governor Suswam be given a seven day ultimatum.
It would be recalled that following what the state legislators termed ‘dragging the integrity of the House to the waste bin’ by the Mr. Conrad Wergba, the House in a unanimous took a decision directing him to resign his position within seven days.
Members though members wanted to back the decision with a threat clause, they were restrained by the Speaker.
A member who spoke to atiterkula after the session but pleaded not to be named on ground that he was not authorised by his group, the G24 to talk said they will surprise the Governor with impeachment motion if he ignore their order.
