Senator representing Benue East Senatorial District, Senator Barnabas Gemade has described the recent call by certain Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders from the senatorial district as an act of mischief aimed at creating enemity between him and the state governor.
According to Gemade, it is still too early Image to discuss the issue of taking over his position in the senate as he still had three long years to go in the tenure he is already enjoying, thus discussing what happens in 2015, will amount to putting the cart before the horse.
While fielding questions from journalists, the former PDP national chairman dismissed claims of kite flying by the governor and other interested individuals, he claimed the plot was aimed at distabilising his sojourn at the Senate by gain seekers who had hoodwinked to convene the celebration with their own hidden agenda which they hatched without the general concensus of the said elders.
Gemade claimed the plan was the plot of one Hon. Atoza Ihindan, an in-law of his who he explained has bourne grudges against him for prefering the present state governor over him during the later’s quest to contest for the House of Representatives 1999 in which governor Suswam won.
He also refutted claims that he was positioning himself to run for the governorship of Benue State come 2015 in exchange for his senatorial seat. Gemade  stated that he was still enjoying his spell at the senate and has no plan to relonqiush it for the governorship and so called those rumouring his interest for the governorship dreamers.
It could be recalled that two weeks ago, a group under the aegis of Zone A PDP elders, had organised a rally to celebrate Suswam’s triumph at the Supreme Court where they tipped the governor as the replacement for Chief Gemade in 2015.
