SUPREME COURT RULING: Suswam Dismisses Bribery Allegation

Contrary to allegations by the Benue state Action Congress of Nigeria ACN that governor Suswam had bribed his way out the case instituted against him by the two major opposition parties in the state, the governor yesterday dismissed the allegation that it was false.

Governor Suswam who made this known in Makurdi in a reaction after his victory at the Supreme court in the electoral petition appeal filed against him by ACN and the All Nigeria People’ Party (ANPP) candidates said he had won the election in question and had no reason whatsoever to bribe anybody to twist judgment in his favour.

According a high elated Suswam, the issue of 180 was a constitutional matter and not a creation of his own adding that he respect the rule of law and would do whatever it takes to protect it even if it affected him.

“There have been allegations all along that I have bribed the judges handling the case and I have even been accused of forging certificate but I knew all the way that this was just a gimmick by the opposition party to distract me and prevent me from bringing the desired dividend of democracy to the Benue people. They sometimes even petition the judges assigned to handle the case of compromising but I view it as simple desperation on the part of some few individuals who are bent to destroy Benue state”, Suswam said.

The Governor noted that the ruling of the Supreme Court on the case has once again vindicated his victory in the 2011 poll adding that he was fully committed to bring development to the people of Benue.

Suswam who dedicated the victory to the Benue people also called on all the opposition political parties in Benue state, their Governorship candidates and supporter to join hands with him to bring progress to the state.

“In politics, there are no permanent enemies or friends but there are permanent interests. Our interest here is to develop the Benue of our dreams, so I call on all members of the opposition to join hands with me so that together we will move Benue forward” he ended.
