The closure of government girls secondary school makurdi for the visit of Dame patience Jonathan who was on a two-day visit to Benue has been described as a great loss to the students of the school where unable to attend classes due to the visit.
On arrival sunday afternoon, the first lady’s helicopter landed  on the school field thereby denying the eager to learn students acess as security cordoned the area. Two students, Jennifer Tor and Ajonye Adakole, who spoke to atiterkula yesterday said they were shocked that on arrival armed security operatives took over their school premises without prior warning and thus they had to scamper for their safety given the zaki-biam experience where the military invaded the town.
A trader  who plies her trade along the barricaded Atiku Abubakar road which leads to government house Makurdi, Mrs veronica  Apa, who sells bananas, says she witnessed low patronage because customers could no longer pass through as the road was blocked.
Other traders along kashim Ibrahim road and the Makurdi- Oturkpo highway, where the president’s wife commissioned the headquaters of Sev-av foundation, the pet project of Benue Governors wife, Yemisi Suswam, was also blocked thereby forcing commuters travelling from the north to the south to park their vehicles till the event was over.
In her address during the occassion, the first lady of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan, blamed the current state of insecurity in the nation on the failure of leaders to keep to promises made during campaigns.

Dame Jonathan, who used the opportunity as what she termed,a thank you tour to thank the women for supporting the Goodluck/Jonathan team during the last elections, also enjoined Nigerians to embrace peace so as to harness progress.
“… no meaningful development can be achieved without peace. It is not enough to talk about peace, we should believe in peace which is not also enough until we start acting it. Let us reject all forms of violence and evil company… We are tired of bearing the consequences of the actions of a selfish few “. She lamented.
Thanking the first lady for deeming Benue state worthy of visit, wife of the Benue State Governor, Arc. Yemisi Suswam, also stressed the need for peace, noting that politics which is supposed to be an agent of progress has turned a game that breeds hatred and perpetration of violence.
