Senate Minority leader, Senator George Akume has declared that the time has come for Governor Gabriel Suswam to pack his belongings and get out of Government House, Makurdi before it is too late.

Akume further said that even though he worked so hard and made Suswam governor in 2007, the fact remains that the incumbent governor does not presently have the mandate of the people.

According to him, “Whether or not Suswam likes it, I made him governor, but that is not the issue now. It is not all about me, it is about the people ofBenuethat refused to vote for him again. So, let him pack and leave. As far as I know, Suswam is a governor that is going for good.”

This was even as he said that in spite of what Suswam and Hon Terngu Tsegba did against him, he would never abandon his interest in cultivating young men for leadership roles.

Akume, told journalists at the venue of the Benue state Election Petition Tribunal, after he had tendered some exhibits that were adopted as his witness statements, described as unfortunate and surprising the behavior of the people he picked from nowhere and made them what they are in life today, who he noted are now on daily basis insulting him and desperately looking for ways to bring him down.

According to him, “If you trust too much, you are bound to trust even thieves and rogues. But I will never regret because I know and very well too that greatness is never built on easy ways.”

Commenting on his perceived problem with his estranged godson and incumbent governor of the state, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, Akume said that he was in no way eyeing the seat of the governor but would continue to stand on the path of justice as well as remain with the people of the state.

The opposition Leader had earlier in a case between him and Hon Terngu Tsegba, tendered in evidence during cross-examination, documents including a letter of withdrawal of membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a copy of the amended Constitution of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the membership register of the ACN from his Kyor-Yaar ward, waiver notice from the ACN, a form containing list of candidates sponsored by the party and form EC8D containing summary of results and form EC8E, containing declaration of results for the Benue-north-West senatorial district. All evidence tendered except the ward register, were accordingly admitted by the tribunal and marked as exhibits.
