The Senate will deliberate on the nation’s security situation with the aim of providing legislative solution to the threat to peace, good governance and safety of lives and property in the country today.

The debate which is expected to come under a motion being sponsored by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba was precipitated by Monday’s bomb blast which rocked the post amnesty conference in Warri (Delta State) is to draw the attention of the nation and the international community to the security implications of the explosions.

This is equally coming on the heels of the invitation extended to Security Chiefs by the Senate Committee on Defence and Army to brief it on the measures being taken to curb the security lapses in the country.

President of the Senate David Mark while ruling on a notice of motion brought under Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rule by Senator Ndoma-Egba, said that the matter shall be debated today.

Senate Spokesman Senator Ayogu Eze later told journalists that the Upper chamber of the National Assembly is so distressed by sad incident that occurred in Warri thus had to admit it as an emergency issue under matters of National importance.
